I painted a coffee mug at Colour Factory last weekend. It's one of those places where you can go do pottery or paint on ceramic stuff and generally sit back and have some nice, relaxing fun. The one here is a nice, bright place, though their range of ceramics could be larger (or perhaps a brat pack had been there in the afternoon).
They returned the mug after glazing and firing yesterday.
I really liked it immediately after painting. I got all enthusiastic and painted all over it, and since I couldn't decide which one of favoured motifs to paint, I ended up doing the two sides differently. The daisy takes up one entire side, and the patchwork collage thingy the other. Naturally greens and yellows and oranges predominate:) They'd told me the colours would change. They have a colour board there that shows you what the final colours would look like.
And then they glazed it and fired it and returned it and I could see why they so very earnestly told us loads about not mixing in too much water and not relayering the paint, which is slightly wasted on me because I always end up painting over the initial outcome, especially for backgrounds:o
It’s gone a little haywire in terms of the colour spread but I think it’s cute anyway. Next time, I’ll just ensure there isn’t too much filling in of colour in the design.:o)
